Wahminda Park Handover
The FHPA has operated the Wahminda Park Tennis Courts for many years, but for the last few years the running costs have exceeded the revenue. The courts are now in need of further maintenance which the FHPA cannot afford.
We have therefore requested Council to seek expressions of interest from other community groups to take over the operation of the Courts. This processs will take place over the next few months and this website will be updated accordingly.
Expressions of interest were called late July 2011 and December 2011. Unfortunately this process was not successful and further discussions are in progress.
Availability- Bookings can be arranged by ringing our booking agent, Daphne Bale on 0423 492 782 8:30am - 9:30am or 8:30pm - 9:30pm Monday to Friday.
Fees:
Different rates apply for casual and permanent bookings, as well as day and night time bookings. They are:
Casual (per hour): $10 (daytime), $15 (night, with lights)
Permanent (per hour): $8 (daytime), $10 (night, with lights)
Permanent Block Bookings (3 hrs) Day: $15 Night: $20
The aim of the Ferny Hills Progress Association was to provide tennis facilities at a low cost so that families in the area could afford to use them. This is something the Ferny Hills Progress Association still thinks is important. The courts are managed by the Ferny Hills Progress Association, a group of people who are residents of the area who give their time voluntarily.
The Association also wishes to express its gratitude to the Pine Rivers Shire Council (from whom Wahminda Park is leased) for the provision of an interest free loan in 2000 which allowed us to resurface the Courts.
